Polenta Elementary

Pennies for Patients

During the weeks of January 25th - February 12th, the fifth Grade Student Council at Polenta Elementary held a Pennies for Patients Campaign.

Over $3,500 was collected for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, whose mission is to cure blood cancers and improve the quality of life for patients and their families.

Student Council members encouraged participation by sharing a fact on the school's morning news each day about blood cancers and placing posters around the school. Each classroom participated by collecting spare change students brought in from their homes to donate.

Polenta Elementary has their very own survivor who is deemed by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as an Honored Hero. It was very special to the students at the school to raise money to support one of their own students in the program.
