Lady Ravens Continue Incredible Unbeaten Run
By Chris Gosek
On an afternoon that began with each eighth grade player saluting their parents at mid court, the Riverwood Lady Ravens Middle School basketball team managed to continue their improbable undefeated roll, upending Archer Lodge 38-15.
Riverwood came out in this game pumped up and ready to go from the opening whistle with a tenacious defense and a lightning quick offense that was just too much for their opponent. Jenna Harris was a spark plug for the Lady Ravens both on defense and heading to the basket and Tajah Clark was a key to Riverwood successfully operating in the offensive zone. The combination of Ali Orringer and Denneshia Goodman were a force around the basket, pulling in rebounds on offense and keeping the Archer Lodge shooters off balance around the hoop. Taisha Murphy was a threat in the paint on offense and played scrappy defensively as well in the victory and Ashley Murphy showed hustle on both ends of the court.
Also contributing to the victory and the Lady Raven undefeated season are, Alexus Stancil, Kaylee Morgan, Amber Caudle, Caitlin Davis, Sarah Jackl, Rachel Maness and Denneshia Goodman.
The group of eighth graders taking place in the pre game ceremony has not lost a single game in their two years of play at Riverwood. With just two road games remaining in the regular season at Smithfield and McGee’s the Lady Ravens will certainly be looking to not only repeat as league champions but to do so with a perfect record as well.
