Cleveland Angels '02 successfully get their 4 wins
Angels Rise to the Top

By Chris Gosek

The Cleveland Angels ’02 girls’ softball team recently continued with their highly successful spring and summer season, collecting four wins on their way to being crowned the champions at the USSSA State Tournament held in Kinston.
The championship run that saw the girls rattle off four victories while only losing once during the State Tournament was a culmination of a season filled with hard work, improvement, and success.  The tournament win in Kinston was their first championship this season after coming extremely close to the top prize when they finished second on three different occasions at the USSSA’s Relay for Life (March) and State Warm Up Tournament (June 2-3) and in the IFA’s Mother’s Day Challenge in May.  Cleveland had also registered two third place finishes in tournament play and has not had a single tournament throughout the season in which they did not finish with a winning record.  Overall, for their 2012 spring season the Angels stand at 23 wins, 10 losses, and 2 ties.  They hope to carry their winning ways over into their next few events when they will play at the Bringing the Heat tournament in Fuqua-Varina and then host the Heat is On tournament to wrap up summer play in late July.
