Smithfield Park and Recreation Art Camp
Fun with Pottery

By Chris Gosek

Letting their creative sides shine through all week at the Smithfield Park and Recreation art camp, kids in attendance worked with clay to make a variety of items.
The children began work with their clay, forming it into many different items including plates or mugs.  Once they had finished this part of the process, they put the items aside to be fired in the kiln.  They then worked with a partner to make a glaze that they would put on their items after they had painted them.  Once they were done, they could take their beautiful finished pieces home for their own use.
