Fitness through the Year
By Chris Gosek
First graders at Sanford Creek Elementary have been reviewing and showing off all of the skills they learned during physical education with Ms. Sandy this year, rotating through different stations in class.
The kids began their review by going over the importance of stretching before they begin their physical activities. The various stations around the room found the kids working on proper throwing form, where they worked on both their aim and follow through and ball handling skills with both their feet (soccer) and hands (basketball). Continuing with their soccer and basketball skills, the youngsters also showed proper shooting form at two separate stops in the gym. Lastly, they worked on their jump rope form; remembering to use “alligator arms” and to keep their head looking straight ahead while doing this exercise.
