Power at the Plate Keys Clayton 2 Victory
By Chris Gosek
Using a powerful offensive attack and an impressive pitching performance, the Clayton 2 girls’ softball team upended Clayton 1 in recent Parks and Recreation 12U action.
Clayton 2 jumped out early with a pair of runs in the first inning, but their opponent was unwavered and answered right back to tie the score in their next trip to the plate. A smart and patient approach on offense by Clayton 2 in the next two innings combined with sparkling defense and solid pitching that quieted the Clayton 1 bats allowed for them to pull away and earn the big league win. Despite falling short on the scoreboard, the Clayton 1 girls also played a strong game with the gloves, as they will take the positives from the contest into another important battle later this week against Clayton 3. The victors will look to continue to ride the momentum from this game as they travel to lock up with McGee’s in their next game.
