Affordable Security Tops Barnes Collision
By Chris Gosek
In a true pitcher’s duel that saw both sides showcase fantastic defensive play, Affordable Security outlasted Barnes Collision by a 3-2 final score in recent Wendell Parks and Recreation 9-10 year old baseball action.
Trevor Stafford and Daniel Carter split the pitching duties for the victorious squad, stifling the opposing hitters throughout the game. Carter was also a star at the plate, ripping a triple to help his own cause. Sean Barron laced a double for Affordable Security as well, with Luke Rubish adding a single for the winners. The entire team played a flawless defensive game, with Alex Peace showing great range at third and Mason Price playing a great game behind the plate. The outfield play of Kenny Dowdy, Will Mitchell, Zack Dobbin, Sam Plummer, and Ethan Gang was also stellar for the winners.
The Barnes Collision one-two punch of Ty Kay and Nick Johnson was also very impressive on the mound. Kay was the hero at the plate for his team also, circling the bases for a home run. Keeping the game within reach behind the strong pitching effort was a rock solid infield of Johnson, Austin McAllister, Judson Brooks, and Samuel Morris. Much like their opponent, the outfield play of the Barnes team featuring Jayme Tucker, Colby Barnes, TJ Bailey, and Tyler Pulley was also spectacular.
