Cleveland Middle Baseball Team Co-Conference

Rams Looking to Climb Back to the Top

By Chris Gosek

Following a very successful 2010-11 year, where they finished as the regular season co-conference champions, the Cleveland Middle baseball team has high hopes heading into the opening week of spring play with thoughts of a repeat performance this year on their minds.

“We look good so far,” said Cleveland Coach Duane Brown speaking about his young squad. “We have five strong returning players and three new eighth graders to go along with a very talented group of seventh grade kids…the team has a lot of talent at all spots all the way through our lineup.” Coach Brown went on to note that he expects the Rams’ pitching rotation to be a very strong point of the teams make up. He concluded, “We are just waiting to get out there, take the field, and start playing some games.”

Cleveland will open their season this Thursday at Selma. Starring for the 2011-12 Rams will be eighth graders, Dylan Lee, Landry Moore, Landon Brown, Ryan Florez, Chris Strickland, Seth Gooding, Dylan Betancourt, and D.J. Whitmer. Seventh graders hitting the diamond for Cleveland will be Dawson Jackson, Tyler Keenan, Bobby Dixon, Trevor Bryant, Jordan Smothers, Holdin Mullins, Jamar Poston, and Chase Webster.
