Knightdale Elementary 100 Days

100 Days Smarter

By Chris Gosek

Ms. Kelley’s second grade class at Knightdale Elementary took on a host of activities in accordance with the celebration of the 100th day of school in the past few weeks, culminating with 100 Valentine’s Day cards that they created being sent out to celebrate the holiday last Tuesday.

In addition to the Valentine’s messages, the second graders did a number of other things in class based on the 100-day theme, with each child asked to complete a project using anything they chose to “Create 100.”

The finished work saw students presenting a variety of items including ravioli, hearts, and pennies among other things, explaining to their fellow classmates what strategy they used in reaching the three-digit figure. Once the projects were complete, the entire class signed a pledge declaring that they were 100 days smarter than they were at the beginning of the school year.
