Hold, Cold, and Warm
By Chris Gosek
Kindergartners in Ms. Ausley’s class at Lead Mine Elementary were taking the role of scientists this past week, experimenting with what happens to water that is at different temperatures and discussing the results as a group.
The class first took a sampling of water and microwaved it, using a thermometer to note that its temperature was 120 degrees Fahrenheit. They mixed the hot water with another sampling of ice water that they recorded at 48 degrees. They then mixed the hot and cold water and discovered that together it made a warm sampling that they checked and registered to be 83 degrees. Once the experiment was complete, the kids went to their seats and drew a picture to explain what they had discovered through the water experiment.
