East Clayton Farming
Magical Farming
By Chris Gosek
Students in Ms. Joy’s class at East Clayton Elementary planted seeds this past week and watched the “magic” unfold as much to the surprise and delight of the young farmers they returned to the field outside the school to find fully-grown pumpkins by day’s end.
The students started out by each individually planting a seed before they returned to class to enjoy some Halloween themed fun.  Parents and friends joined the class as they checked their seeds several times throughout the day to find no growth.  They then sat down to enjoy the Halloween classic, “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” and when it was completed they rushed back to check their planted seeds once again.  The kids happily rushed out the door to find each of their seeds had “sprouted” with full-grown pumpkins at each of their spots in their make shift garden.
